Let's see if we can narrow this down for you. A few questions to kick us off (and, apologies if some of these seem basic, I like to make sure I do not assume anything)
- Are your iMac and MacBook on the same network when you have tested that one works and the other doesn't?
- Have you tried Chrome by any chance? I know you mentioned Safari and Firefox, however Chrome seems to often be the one that just works when we encounter the odd unusual issue
- Could you possibly try in Incognito or Private mode, often these disable plugins in the browser and that can ascertain if there is a plugin causing an issue (if everything works in incognito mode).
- Are you running any firewall, antivirus, or security software on your iMac that you aren't running on your MacBook?
- Are your iMac and MacBook running the same version of MacOS (and if so, what version)?
