How do i mention a suer in a classroom reply in discussions readily as a student?

I'm not sure I fully understand your question, but if by "mention" you are referring to some sort of tagging you might find on a social media network, that function isn't available.  It would be best to ask this question of your instructor.  It might be as simple as referring to the other student by name.

Ah...but it is a feature of the Discussion Redesign that Instructure has been working on.

@PaulaAbunaw, your Canvas administrator team at Houston Community College may not have yet enabled the Discussion Redesign feature in Canvas for you and your fellow classmates and instructors.  But, in the Discussion Redesign, @ mentioning people in discussion replies is possible.  Check out these two Guides on how it would work:

I also found this page on Houston Community College's website which has a contact phone number you can use if you want: Instructional Support Call Center | Houston Community College - HCC (hccs.edu).  You could find out what their plans are to enable the Discussions Redesign feature in Canvas.
