Collaborate Ultra student emails

Hello Canvas users

In Canvas, Collaborate Ultra, is there a way students can email each other without having to direct their emails to the Unit Convenor to then forward on (ie the Unit convenor is the main point of contact at this stage)? We prefer students to do this themselves, email to the platform rather than to the Unit convenor who then needs to email to all students. Thank you!

If students are in Canvas they should be able to use their inbox to directly message one another.  I'm not sure how Collaborate Ultra is coming into play here?
