Can I invite just one student or a small group to a conference in Canvas?

Yes, you can.  When you set up the conference, uncheck the box next to "Invite All Course Members."  You'll get a pop-down with a list of all course members in it, and you can choose which people you want to invite.  Or you can start a conference without checking anyone, and only you will be in it.

Ok. That's what the teacher I am working with tried and yet she had some

uninvited guests. Suggestions on this?

I'd like to hear from Instructure on that one.  I didn't know others could join if they weren't invited.

I always get conference bombed by uninvited students in a private conference. I do as you suggest, uncheck invite all, pick the one student from the drop down menu and the click save and publish. Today I will try a two step save then publish to see if that helps. In the past I have had to stop speaking and ask the other student(s) to leave. AB
