[ARCHIVED] Discussion Board: Separate Due Dates for Initial Posts & Replies

Good day everyone.

When creating a Discussion Board assignment has anyone figured out a way to assign a due date for an INITIAL post and a separate due date for REPLIES?

EXAMPLE:

  • INITIAL POST: must be posted by Thursday at 2359 EST
  • REPLY: must be posted by Sunday at 2359 EST

The reason for asking is without this option if you set a due date in the ASSIGN section the due date populates the course calendar and my experience is students assume both (INT & REPLIES) are due on that due date. But having the option to split the two dates would allow the instructor to better manage the due dates and their relation to the course calendar.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers ~ Rich
