Why doesn't Canvas have a word count on Discussions? It would help ensure student success and show them and instructors whether they have met the requirements of the assignment.

@profmayfield ...
Canvas discussion topics do have a word count...found at the bottom right corner of the Rich Content Editor (RCE). As you can see under the heading "Post Reply" in the following Guides, it shows "0 words" just under the RCE in the lower right corner. Students would see a word count as they begin to type in their replies to the RCE for discussion topics.
If you are not seeing this on your screen, you will want to contact Canvas support to see if they can help figure out why you wouldn't be seeing this.
Sing out if you have any other questions about this...thanks!
