Does Canvas offer Notes capability?

I want to be able to take notes from reading materials inside Canvas, so that I can reference them during class/lectures.

To my knowledge, a "Notes" feature does not exist in Canvas.  For instructors, they can add in a "Notes" column to the Gradebook to keep notes on their students.

How do I use the Notes column in the Gradebook?

However, there is nothing in Canvas that would allow you to take notes from the reading materials in your course.  Your best bet, IMHO, would be to use something like Microsoft Word to take notes on your computer so that you can always have access to those files.
