I am a Teacher's Assistant for a course and wanted to change the timings for my office hours, just wanted to know if people get notified when i change the simple syllabus or would i have to send out messages to the entire class about the change i made?

Hi @JackieStoss ...
I believe that @OmyaasreeBalaji is asking about Simple Syllabus (an external LTI integration) vs. the Canvas Syllabus.
I'm a Canvas administrator at our College, and we also have Simple Syllabus. In the admin side of Simple Syllabus, I can go to the Admin >> Notifications screen, and I see these two options in green. The top one, "Auto follow" is turned off in our Simple Syllabus. For the box I've highlighted in green, I'm not 100% sure if this is also part of the notifications that could potentially be sent out (if the toggle switch above was turned on).
These notifications are separate from the "Notifications" screen that is in Canvas.
I don't know if this is helpful for you or not, @OmyaasreeBalaji, but I wanted to share the info. Thanks...
Hi, @OmyaasreeBalaji !
Students will not get notified automatically of changes to the Syllabus, but that would be a great use of the Canvas Inbox or Course Announcement features.
will it be notified to the professor/Course Instructor?
If you do a course announcement, then yes, the instructor may also be notified. Users can control what notifications they receive to their email, and these notifications can be turned off (but announcement notifications are on by default). Depending on the course settings, announcements may also appear in the Announcements page of the Course Navigation Menu, and/or on the course homepage (this is turned on/off from the course settings).
If you are using the Inbox, you can choose which users it goes to, which can include students and instructors, or just students. Inbox messages will always appear in the user's Canvas Inbox. Depending on their personal notification settings, inbox messages may go to their email as well.
oh no i am not talking about the course announcement or the message or the email. I kinda get that the student will not be notified if i make a change just wanted to know if my prof gets notified or not?
I see! No, your instructor won't get a notification that the syllabus was edited.

Hello @OmyaasreeBalaji ,
It does look like you are specifically asking about our LTI application (Simple Syllabus), if that is the case @Chris_Hofer is completely correct. If the toggle to Auto Follow is turned on, all students within your class will get notified when you update your syllabus, such as correcting office hours. If this toggle is turned off for your school, the student would have to choose to "follow" your syllabus.
I couldn't quite tell from your profile what institution you were with or we could check on if this is configured for your school. If you need additional help/support, you can email help@simplesyllabus.com or there should be a ? icon in the top right side of the syllabus builder (see screenshot below).
Hope this helps,
Simple Syllabus
