Exported Canvas quiz with fill-in-the-blank questions gets imported into Canvas as essay questions

I an instructor and I created a Canvas quiz with a number of fill-in-the-blank questions. I want students to complete this quiz every week. I can't copy the quiz so I exported it and then I imported it the number of times I needed it. The problem is that the imported quiz question type is essay question (i.e., not fill-in-the-blank that was exported). Any thoughts on what I might be doing wrong? (I'm thinking this might be a bug.)
I understand that I question bank might be suggested as a solution, however, I want the questions in the same order every week (and I do not want to manually assemble 16 quizzes that are identical except for the week that they need to be completed.)
