Google Drive links show "you need access" message on canvas

When I share google drive links through Canvas (i.e., of ppt slides where the accessibility is already set to "everyone with the link" within Google Drive), it still shows the "You need access" message on Canvas. I've had students send in requests for access, and it doesn't seem to always go through.

What do I need to do so that the Google Drive link they click from Modules can be viewable on Canvas? Also, I'm using Canvas Free for Teachers.

The google account you are using -- is taht a personal gmail account? (if so, I don't see why there would be an issue if you've already made it public).   Or are you using a google account for your work?  (if so, I wonder if the google is limited to people in your place of work).

I don't know what the issue could be, but just trying to think of things (??)

The google account is a university work email that uses/is connected to google products like gmail, drive, etc. Shared materials from this email have been accessible to people outside the university through direct links, but not sure how Canvas is changing that accessibility.
