Gradebook Messaging

When I use the feature in gradebook to "Message Students Who Haven't Submitted Yet," often times a number of students receive the message even though they *did* in fact turn this in.  This leads to loads of emails from students freaking out that their work is lost.  Have others experienced this issue? Is there a better way to use this feature?

@jeremy_childs , an external tool assignment submission could definitely be one of the factors at play here. For an in-Canvas assignment, "Message students who...have not submitted" will not send messages to students who have been assigned a grade for the activity, so it might be a good practice to enter grades for those students who have submitted on paper or by email, and for anyone whom you have identified as having submitted to the assignment via an external source, and then use "Message students who..." to send a reminder to those students who haven't yet completed the assignment. Does that make sense?
