The Instructure Community will enter a read-only state on November 22, 2025 as we prepare to migrate to our new Community platform in early December. Read our blog post for more info about this change.
We are using Canvas to teach our in-person classes AND our virtual sections during COVID-19 precautions. We have students learning at home and in-person. There are some assignments that students at-home are submitting that students in-class are either turning in on paper or simply doing in class for credit.
When these students have received a grade, it's still marking them as missing. This keeps it in their "to-do" list even though they've received a grade. Is there a way to disable this? Manually changing each student in Gradebook is VERY complicated and time-consuming.
Additionally, we are having a lot of students using iPads who are having trouble submitting files (especially pictures - but perhaps more).
Thoughts?
Hello @mckenziera ...
You might want to give this "Canvancement" (Canvas Enhancement) a try: Removing Missing and Late Labels by James Jones. There's a lot of information in his blog, but he does a really good job of explaining what to do, and he even has provided a short tutorial video at the bottom for you to watch. I'm sure if you have any questions about it, he would be happy to answer. I hope this will be of help to you. Take care, stay safe, and be well.
