Group assignment notification

I have a question regarding group assignments in Canvas.

When one student in a group uploads a submission for a group assignment, do the other students in that same group receive a notification about this submission?

My understanding is that they currently do not receive a notification, and I'm wondering if this is the intended behavior or if there's a setting I might be missing. It would be helpful for group members to be aware when a part of their assignment has been submitted.

I think you're correct, students do not receive notifications when another student in their group submits a graded assignment, however they are able to see if it is submitted on the assignments page, as well as being able to access the submissions folder to see who uploaded what file and at what time. 

When it comes to notification settings specifically, this would be something that the student gets to choose to have enabled and not the teacher. However, under the notification settings of their account, the only notification options for groups are to notify them if they're added to a new group. There currently isn't an option for students to enable to be notified if a fellow student submits an assignment for their group.
