How can I see other discussion posts when they aren't showing up?

When trying to post on a discussion board, I am only seeing my posts but I know there were some from my classmates as I saw them previously. I have to reply to my classmates but I cannot see any of their posts. The professor has not done anything to stop me from seeing other replies and I have been using the same internet browser for the last year viewing Canvas. How can I see the other discussion posts?

Depending on the discussion topic in your course, it is possible that your instructor has configured it in such a way that he/she will not allow you to see other postings for that topic until you post a reply to the topic.  This is one way that instructors can ensure that student responses are "original" and not copied from another student.  You might want to double-check with your instructor to see if that is how he/she has chosen to set up that particular topic in your course.
