Hi everyone,
I’ve noticed that when I replace a file in Canvas (using the “Replace” option when uploading a file with the same name), sometimes the file’s attachment ID remains the same and sometimes it changes to a new ID, especially for the file created years ago. This causes links in my courses to break.
My question is: Is there an internal time frame that determines how long a file remains “active” for replacement? meaning it still keeps the same ID.
I’d appreciate any advice on keeping file links stable! Thank you.
Thank you!
Hey @GiangLe2024 ,
This is a very good question! However, I believe that this is something you should reach out to Canvas Support / your CSM about. I don't think many people here in the Instructure Community would know the answer to your question, as it has to do with the engineering behind Canvas, which many of us don't really know how it works.
I hope this helps point you in the right direction!
Best,
Noah
