How to unpublish a quiz that had a student submission

teacher set up courses; did not realize all the quizzes were showing up as published. A student went ahead and started multiple quizzes even though we just started school and no material has yet been covered.  The teacher tried to unpublish all the quizzes but can't unpublish the quizzes the student went in as it as it has a submission and can not be unpublished.  We do not want other students to do the same thing with these quizzes that can't be unpublished.  Is there a way to unpublish a quiz once there is a submission. Only 1 student has gone in and done this.

They can only be unpublished for the other students. But for the one who has taken it... I'm afraid not. Your instructor may want to start waiting until Sheis ready to publish it. Also, When a quiz is published there will be a green check on it.unpublished will not have one. If you go to the instructor guide on her search that same question.

If the teacher uses modules and allows students to access the modules page, she can "hide" the quiz in an unpublished module. She can also copy the quiz and delete the version the student took. If there's not an option to copy it, she can send the quiz to Commons then import it back into the course.
