Lockdown and webcam issues

When I try to start a test or quiz and have to use my webam, there is a notification that pops up saying; Error, unable to connect to to Respondus server (AWS), Exam title indicates a webcam must be used, which requires a working connection to AWS. Then it says to run a system  check using "help center" in Lockdown Browser. I have a webcam on my laptop but I do not know why it will not allow me to use it. How will I be able to fix this?

This is just a guess, but when you access the exam make sure you are not doing so from the To Do list.  Go into the course and find it under either Quizzes, Assignments, Modules or Syllabus (might be in all of those places depending on how your instructor sets things up).  At my school we've seen that sometimes the Lockdown Browser doesn't function correctly when accessing a test from the To Do list.

Other than that, I believe when you are in Lockdown Browser there is an option to get help.  You might have better luck with this issue getting Assistance from Respondus since they make the Lockdown Browser as an addition to Canvas.

The support site for Respondus is Technical Support . I also did a little more checking and found some indications that antivirus software could block access like this.
