[ARCHIVED] Looks like cheating

I have an assignment that had a due date time of 11:59 pm.  Canvas says the student turned it in at 1:13 pm the same day, but Canvas also flagged it as late.  I'm thinking they turned it in late but changed the time on their computer so that it wouldn't look late.  Is that, or something like that possible?

No. The submission date and time is based on the Canvas server's date, not the date on the user's computer.

This sounds like something I have done--where I accidentally set the wrong day but the correct time. Maybe recheck the assignment date.

There are lots of ways it could happen, none of which have anything to do with cheating.

For example, if the teacher duplicates an assignment that is past due, then I've seen Canvas mark them all as late. The students were freaking when they had a 0 and the assignment wasn't even due yet. Changing the due date didn't remove the late labels.
