New student enrollment shows as "COMPLETED" - but the course has just started!

I am using Canvas Free for Teachers.
I have just started a course. I sent the students a link with a course code.
Most newly enrolled students are shown as "Active" but some are listed as "Completed."
Is the "enrollment" completed? The course is just starting, and cannot possibly be finished yet.
Is this because the student has not yet attempted any work?

@Patb789 This is very odd! It's not clear why only one student is listed as "completed." If you've ascertained that the student is unable to proceed in the course, the best course of action would be to remove the student from the section and then send them a new course invitation.
