Observer Access Dates to Match Student Access Dates

We have a partner school and a teacher from it acts as an observer to any of their students enrolled in our courses. We allow students to access their courses one week prior to the term start date and two weeks after the term ends to complete any late work. However, observers are tied to the term dates and therefore don't have the same access times as their students.
We do not want to adjust our term dates. Also, the process of manually switching "Participation" from "Term" to "Course" in these particular courses every term is becoming tedious. Observers should have the same access times as their students do in the term's "Students can access from" dates. It just makes sense that the observer is with the student throughout the whole time they are in the course.
I just added this to the Canvas Ideas, but didn't know if anyone else experienced this issue and had any workarounds. Thanks so much!
