Hi Karen,
That depends on if you're wanting to enter grades for an assignment your students did in-class/on paper, or if you're referring to grades for assignments your students completed online.
If they're in-class/ on paper assignments, the only way to create a column in the gradebook for it is to create a new assignment and choose "on paper" or "no submission" for the submission type.
