Student Groups Oddity

Colleagues,

Odd situation that has us stumped.

  • The instructor set up eight groups (although only seven have students)
  • Three students per group. Nothing odd that we can tell.
  • She has a graded survey with the eight group options (1-8) in a MC question.
  • The students in groups six and seven only see options 1-5 when they access the graded survey. Numbers 6, 7, and 8 do not appear. We confirmed by masquerading as students in groups six and seven.
  • This is Classic Quizzes

Unfortunately, I can't attach a screen shot, but her graded survey definitely has eight options: 1-8. When I just preview the Graded Survey there are 8 options, which makes me think it's something in the Groups behavior. But we can't find anything odd.

Any ideas what may be happening?

So, only part of the question/answer list is being shown to certain groups, but other groups see all the choices?  If there is only one question, what happens when you add a second MC question?  Does everyone see them all?  Are you able to attach the survey as a qti?

Sort of. The question appears for all the groups, but only options/foils 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Missing are 6, 7, and 8. Almost as if Canvas is limiting foils to five for a graded survey. But when I look at the native survey, all 8 foils are there.

Weird, huh.
