[ARCHIVED] Submitting Posting Assignments in Office 365

Good Morning,

I use Canvas for assignments with my school switching to distance learning. Typically, I embed a Microsoft Word document into an assignment page, students download and complete the Word document, and then they submit their completed file.

The problem is that some of the students do not have Microsoft Office installed on their home computers. However, the school district has provided them all with Office 365 accounts. What do you recommend as the best way for them to open the file directly in Office 365?

Hi  @william_stark , 

Thanks so much for posting your question! You or your Canvas admin can enable the Microsoft 365 LTI in your course. Students will be able to log into their O365 accounts from within your Canvas course to access the documents you provide. You'll need to follow instructions in the following guides: 

• How do I configure an external app for an account using XML? 
• EduApp center installation instructions

Start with the first link to learn how to set this up in your course. Then visit the second link (and, more specifically, this link) to generate the information you'll need to add the app in your account. 

This will add an Office 365 link in your course navigation, and you and your students can log into their O365 accounts from within Canvas and access any linked documents.
