I created a text submission assignment with availability times. A student submitted assignment a minute after the available UNTIL time. I tried changing the UNTIL time but student had already lost the work. Is there a way to retrieve the lost work or do I have to set a new availability time for this student and they have to retype the work?

Hi @mmtong
You should have set a separate availability time for the one student, and you can still do so but the student will need to re-submit. Availability times can be troublesome for students who encounter personal or technical challenges, and I seldom use them. The due date is good enough, and if your students submit late, Canvas will mark it as a late submission and you can then chose how to deal with the late submission. Canvas can even automatically deduct points for late submissions if you desire that.
- How do I assign an assignment to an individual student?
- How do I use icons and colors in the Gradebook? to understand how late submissions are marked by Canvas.
- How do I apply a Late Submission policy in the GradeBook?
I hope this is helpful,
Kelley
