How do I switch from the old Gradebook to the New Gradebook?

Hi Michele,

You can do this on the Settings page for your course, there is a toggle for New Gradebook which will shortly be auto-toggled on for everyone. If you would like it now, once you toggle it you will get the new grade book:

Are you using Canvas Free for Teachers? If so, the change will automatically happen on January 18, 2020, when the old gradebook goes away. You cannot change it ahead of time as the New Gradebook is not available with a Free for Teachers account until then.

For people who have the New Gradebook available, but it's not enabled, you can go to your Course Settings page and choose the Feature Options tab. There is a New Gradebook option under that tab. If it is On, then you're already using the New Gradebook. If it is off, you may be able to change it. If you cannot turn it on, it may be off at the institutional level and only your local Canvas Administrator can enable it for the site. Given that it gets switched for everyone on January 18 anyway, it is likely that it will forced on at that point rather than being a toggle.
