[ARCHIVED] The peer review list incorrectly shows reviews as not completed

I use peer reviews for my relatively large class. I check who has not completed their peer reviews by clicking on the "Peer Reviews" under the assignment page, which is nice because it highlights students who have not done theirs and gives the option to remind them. The problem is that when I check the assignment of a student that shows as unreviewed, the peer review is there. For a large class, it is really time-consuming to go through each assignment to see the peer reviews. Is there a way to either update the peer-review list or am I doing something wrong?
Thanks, Dorian

Hi @liepmann Welcome to the Canvas Community. The peer review feature in Canvas is really cool and does work, but it can admittedly be a wee finicky in what "it" considers a successfully-completed peer review. My hunch is that one of the following applies in this case:
- While the student marked up the review using the DocViewer in Canvas with annotated comments, they did not add a comment on the sidebar and/or
- You had a rubric in the assignment that the student reviewers did not complete.
Somewhat ironically, the student documentation--which I highly recommend to my own faculty that they include a link to when assigning peer review--covers this in a bit more detail, specifically regarding what Canvas considers as "complete." It is here: How do I submit a peer review to an assignment? Look especially at the following text that is noted in the blue box at the top:
To complete the assignment, you must review the student's assignment and add a comment in the comment sidebar.
If your instructor includes a rubric, which is a pre-determined outline of how an assignment is graded, you must assign a grade using the rubric. However, your instructor may also ask you to leave a comment in the comment sidebar.
This is only a guess--but I'm thinking that the students not marked as completed did not do one of these things.
I hope this helps a bit, Dorian.
