Using Test Student to experiment with grading features

I am experimenting with using Canvas for Teachers iOS app for grading on my iPad. I teach writing and, in the past, have used various PDF apps which allow me to leave comments, stickers, highlight, underline, and circle words. The iOS app allows most of this and seems to work well, but I don't want to experiment on actual student submissions. I submitted an assignment as the Test Student thinking I could practice grading and leaving comments. The test student submission doesn't show up in either the app or on the desktop version. Is there a way to make that submission available for grading?

Now I see the submission on the Desktop and the iOS app is showing one needs grading, but I still can't see the actual submission in the iOS app.

I was trying to recreate your problem.. are you in the teacher app or the Canvas app.. While the Canvas app is just called Canvas now.. There is still a canvas teacher app.

Yes. I’m in the teacher app. I did finally find the submission and was able to grade it. It showed up as a tbd and when I clicked on it, the submission opened.
