how do i make assignments visible to students?

How do you know your assignments are not visible to students? Do you see the slashed-eye symbol in your gradebook or have your students reported not seeing the assignment? Did you take a look in Student view as test student?

Your assignments are visible to students if they are published, the slashed-eye symbol means that the grades will not automatically be released to students. This behavior used to be called Muting and it displayed bell, now it's the eye symbol. Read more here: New Gradebook and SpeedGrader Muting Behavior Changes
When you have graded the assignment and you're ready for students to see the grades and comments, then you'll want to post the grades. How do I post grades for an assignment in the New Gradebook?
