What is the point of a parent account if I can't see my child's work?

I get my child's grades every week, but when I go in to look at the assignments to see what he got wrong, I can't see the questions or his answers. I can't see anything to be able to review the material with him and talk things over with him about what he got wrong or why it was wrong and what the right answer was. What is the point of having a parent account if I can't see what my student is actually doing? I can't see his work, his answers, or the questions that are being asked. To see this, I have to get him to log in to his account. Why have a parent account at all? I don't mean to be rude. I seriously am wondering about the benefit of using the parent account. Or maybe there is a way to see this info that I just don't understand? If so, I'd really appreciate it if someone would let me know how to view this info.
