[ARCHIVED] When I post an Announcement, do the students get an email notification?

Or do they learn of such a message only when visiting the Announcements page?

Thanks for your question! Students may or may not get an email when an announcement is made, depending on how they have set their individual notification preferences. They will see a notification for an announcement on the Announcements page in the course and on their dashboard when the log in to Canvas.

If you plan on using announcements as a primary form of communication/notices, you could advise your students to update their notification preferences so they will be notified right away.
