[ARCHIVED] elementary student pending invitation to child's email or observer's email?

When an elementary child has not accepted the invitation to the course and you have sent numerous invitations what does this mean? Are they not getting access? Are the emails being sent to their observer or to the child's email? Elementary students (kindergarten and first grade) do not use their email accounts so how do they accept an invitation?

Hi  @lhardin  Welcome to the Canvas Community.

This is often the toughest hurdle, but once overcome it's well worth it.

The students need to know how to log in to Canvas. They will need to have their usernames and passwords sorted out. Ideally time to practise logging in often is a huge bonus. But I'm assuming that you have had to suddenly put a course together and the students are already at home? In that case you will need to send very easy to follow instructions about logging in to their parents. Screen shots will help.

Before launching into logging in perhaps preface the instructions with 'Why Canvas?' About how it is going to create a classroom community, it's the classroom environment and a safe place to connect, learn, create and laugh. You know the drill.

Perhaps suggest that the students practise logging in a few times.

BUT the first time they log in they will see the course invitation in green at the top of their Dashboard. They will need instruction on how to accept it.

Perhaps you could create a video of the instructions to follow?

Sing out if you need a hand.
