period - comma problem

I have made formula-questions in a course, which worked quite well. We instructed our students to use a period instead of a comma and asked for 1 decimal.

the student enters 123.5  and  Canvas uses that and returns that the answer is correct.

In the meantime something has changed, when using the same course with the same question, Canvas changes the answer from a period delimited number to a comma delimited number.

so the student enters 123.5  than Canvas changes it to 123,5 and returs that the answer is incorrect.

We have not changed anything. There seems to be no solution, no answer is seen as correct.

Can anyone help me?

Are you hosted by instructure.com or is your institution running their own server?

If you're hosted by instructure.com, then report it as a bug by going to Help and Report a Problem.

Canvas has been trying to allow for internationalized support for their numbers, so that countries that use a , for a decimal can enter the questions natively. The support has been spotty and really broke things right before our new term started (so late July / early August). They fixed some of the issues, but they might have missed this one. On the other hand, if you're running out-dated code that hasn't been patched, it may already be taken care of on Canvas' end and you'll need to talk to the people running your server.
