This feature looks promising, but would like for the verbiage to be more clear. When it says "auto-show", does that mean captions are auto-generated or that caption files uploaded are automatically showing in the player with no action needed from the end user?
Normally the terms used in situations like this are auto-generated, Machine captions, or ASR (automatic speech recognition) when talking about captions that are automatically created.
Auto-show is usually used when captions that are linked to a video show by default as opposed to users having to click CC (Closed Captions) on the video player to see those captions.
I appreciate any clarification you can provide.
You got it exactly right. This feature will "auto-show" captions on Canvas LMS videos if the captions exist. It's not creating captions.
Does this feature work with Canvas Studio Videos?
The release notes state, "[V]ideos embedded from Canvas Studio videos are not yet supported but will be in a future release"—so keep an eye out for that.
