Links that anyone anywhere can use

Aloha all!

I've got a substantial body of videos that we migrated to Studio recently (we were a Panopto campus before). Thanks to help here, I learned how to make links to those videos through the Share button. However, it seems like those links don't work for the internet at large, only for people using a campus login. Is there a way to create links to Studio videos what work for anyone, anywhere?

Hi @ThomasGalli ...

Yes, you want to use the Public Link option for your Studio videos.  Those public links shouldn't require any kind of username/password.  You can even generate embed code to put on an external website.

That's exactly what I did, but the responses I'm getting from people outside of my organization are that the links don't work. For colleagues using a university login, they do work.

That's pretty strange.  If you're grabbing the public link, then you shouldn't need any kind of login.  Have you tried reaching out to Canvas Support on this one?

I agree with @Chris_Hofer that this is not the typical outcome. I have shared videos this way and have had no feedback that they have not worked.

Oh, I believe you! The internet at large also agrees with you. But, for whatever reason, I'm having this anomalous experience. It's a bit frustrating because, of course, the people reporting the issues are doing so remotely, and other than a vague "it doesn't work" complaint, I've only gotten one halfway meaningful reply:

"...my mail client is the web version of Outlook. It adds some kind of Safelink protection garbage to the link, and when I click it, it gives me a message that says, "Pop-up Window Blocked," and it won't go to the link."
