New Features

YouTube Player for Education

Summary

The Player for Education integration introduces unique capabilities designed specifically for educational settings.

  • Viewers remain anonymous to YouTube through a signed-out viewing state.
  • This integration allows institutions that restrict access to the standard YouTube platform to incorporate YouTube content into educational resources with greater control. By blocking youtube.com while allowing youtubeeducation.com, users can play YouTube content within Canvas while access outside of Canvas remains disabled.
  • YouTube videos are ad and overlay free for a distraction-free learning environment.
  • Captions are automatically carried over from YouTube to Canvas Studio making YouTube videos accessible.

Please read the YouTube Player for Education FAQs to learn more about the feature.

Note: There are no changes in workflow, any YouTube content added to Canvas Studio (and then embedded to courses) will use the YouTube Player for Education automatically.
