After our initial work on the Community Hub earlier this year, we knew we wanted to add even more goodness to the central hub of this Community. The Community Hub has been updated with more Community guides, a new tabbed layout with new sorting options, a profile completion checklist, an improved Jobs Board, an improved Resources section, and more. We’ve added as much information as possible to the main hub page without it feeling cluttered or overwhelming. The main hub page is now also customized based on your user role and profile completion. Community Novices will notice resources and information tailored to their needs, while our Community Champions will find quick access to popular and important resources.

New buttons across the top section of the Hub feature the Community Guides, the Community Discussion Forum, Canvas Network, information about Community Coaches, and a link to the new Jobs Board.

If you still need to complete your profile in the Community, you can check your progress using the Profile Completion Checklist.

We updated the Community Hub feeds into 3 new tabs to make it easier to find articles and updates in the Hub. The first tab shows updates about the Instructure Community site and the Weekly Highlights blog. User-authored blogs, where users can share their own Community stories, successes, tips & tricks, and more, now have their own tab in the feed. In the final tab you will find all recent activity in the Hub, including blog posts and discussions from the Community Hub.

In the sidebar, you'll find specific Community Resources that have been tailored to your user role. We’ve also added an Upcoming Events widget so you can see what events are available in Instructure Live.

We’re excited to share these new updates to the Community Hub with you! Make sure to update any bookmarks and subscriptions, as we’ve moved some things around and updated the Hub URL. And as always, we’re open to any feedback you have about these changes and your overall Community experience.

Improved Header

The header section of the Community Hub has been updated to include new quick-access buttons to the Community Guides, Community Discussion forum, Canvas Network info, Community Coaches overview, and our new and improved Jobs Board.

Profile Completion Checklist

Similar to the Profile Completion Checklist added to the user profile pages, we’ve also added the checklist in the Community Hub. We’re encouraging users to complete the basics of their profile to help foster a more personal experience in the Community. Once you’ve completed your profile, the checklist will no longer display.

Dynamic Sidebar Resources

We’ve added even more Community guides to help you learn more about how to use our growing online Community and now they have a dynamic and personalized new home in the sidebar of the Hub. As you rank up, the resources will be tailored to your current rank, providing the resources you need at a glance.

Upcoming Events

To highlight the variety of wonderful live events taking place in the Community, we’ve added a new Upcoming Events sidebar widget to the Hub home page.

Improved Feeds

The most notable change to the Community Hub is a redesigned feed area. In Community News, you can find both the Weekly Highlights posts and Community-related news and updates (just like this one you’re reading right now). In Community Blog, you can find Community updates and posts from Community members sharing their Community stories, tips, tricks, and more. In All Hub Activity, you’ll find blog posts, discussion posts, and replies.

Each feed tab has new sort options. Community News and Community Blog allow you to sort by Newest, Oldest, Most Views, and Most Likes. All Hub Activity adds Featured, Solved, and Unsolved sorts and filters. You can use these new filters to find the content in the Hub that matters most to you.
