I’m happy to share that some big changes are coming to beta on February 20. Instructors using Course Pacing will be able to edit and adjust individual student paces, allowing for more flexibility and even greater personalization for students. As a bonus, this new functionality will be accompanied by a new and improved design, making Course Pacing easier to understand and navigate.
Why now?
We have been hearing from all of you that you needed this capability in order to make Course Pacing work for you. With these new changes, instructors will have the option to set a course pace, section pace, and a student pace, providing maximum flexibility and truly supporting student-driven learning.
We are releasing to beta only now because we wanted to give you ample time to play around with this new functionality, explore the new design, and get comfortable with it before using it in your course.
A production release date has not yet been scheduled. We will be monitoring feedback and will alert this group when we set a date for release.
What will it look like?
Adding student paces introduced more complexity to Course Pacing that was difficult to accommodate in the existing design. We determined that we would need to make improvements to the user interface and navigation in order to make the new functionality discoverable and easy to use.
A new landing page will help orient instructors and presents a clear call to action.
A new, searchable table design makes it easy to find what you’re looking for, and is especially valuable for courses with a large number of sections and students.
The new design also offers quick insights into the pace stats, last modified dates, and allows instructors to remove a pace.
Thanks to all of you for participating in this user group. Your willingness to provide feedback, test designs, and sit on calls with us has had a tremendous impact on this feature. We look forward to hearing your feedback once you've had a chance to check out beta next week.
Please stay tuned to the feature user group over the coming days and weeks for more announcements about the release timeline and for an update on the future of Course Pacing development.
