Hi all,
We'd like to sync Canvas Data2 to our data warehouse, which is on Snowflake. Snowflake uses its own SQL dialect.
The DAP Client documentation states that it only supports Postgres and MySQL. Prior to the release of v1.0.0, there were instructions on how to create plugins for other SQL dialects for the DAP client (previously at the URL https://data-access-platform-api.s3.amazonaws.com/client/plugins.html), but the instructions are no longer available.
Is it still possible to extend the DAP Client to other SQL languages? We just starting up with Canvas, but we have experience with Python and databases, so if the process is a little complicated, that's fine.
I looked into this last Fall and was told that they can export directly to your Snowflake tenant. I'm considering a Snowflake account just for this.
Huh, who did you ask, and did they explain how? Just pass the Snowflake connection string and pray?
Hi, All,
We are also interested in getting CD2 data into Snowflake. If anyone has more on this please post updates!! If we figure things out, we will definitely do the same.
We currently use Snowflake and would be interested in whatever solution is available to get data into Snowflake. If Instructure has an instance in Snowflake and could just share the data with client Snowflake instances that would be the best possible solution from my point of view.
I got pricing for an instance directly from Snowflake, and my CSM confirmed that Instructure can export the data to Snowflake. I assume since they are both in AWS it would be some type of proprietary connection/snapshot that bypasses the traditional methods, relying on AWS background processes...but details were never shared.
It was Snowflake who told you this? Interesting. I'll have to inquire. Hopefully it's doesn't require picking up an additional service like Fivetran.
To clarify, Snowflake only provided me with annual pricing on a Snowflake account/tenant. They did not provide any guidance regarding CD2 export to the new tenant.
