CD2 - Assignment Override Precedence

Hi all,

Hoping someone can assist.

I am currently working on identifying a assignment due date at an individual student level.

When there are multiple overrides set I am having trouble figuring out which override(s) take precedence.

Example: a student has an individual override and is enrolled in a section which is also assigned an override both with different due dates - which override date to I take?

Or, a student is enrolled in 2 different sections both with overrides and different due dates?

Has anyone figured out the logic Canvas uses to determine a assignment due date for an individual student when multiple overrides exist?

Hi @RachelR1 . I found some instances of the situations you described then masqueraded as the students to see what due dates Canvas showed them. Here's what I found in those spot checks:

1. When a student has an individual override and their section also has an override, the student sees the due date from their individual override whether it was earlier or later than the section due date.
2. When a student was in 2 sections with different override due dates, the student sees the later due date.

I imagine that this will hold generally.
