CD2: classic quizzes and scores

I've run into a roadblock trying to associate scores w/ quizzes (classic)

From the scores tables, the only linkages are assignment_groups, enrollments, grading_periods.

However, assignment_groups are not individual assignments nor quizzes.

How do I get to a unique quiz's score then?

Hmm... don't think that will help because there's still only one score for the entire assignment group.

Looks like my premise was incorrect, I'd have to look at quiz_submissions to get the score, not the scores table.

but I'm still a bit confused Submission (for assignments) can have scores, but Quiz Submissions can also have scores.

and sometimes I see both for a submission (and hopefully they are the same).  Can I live with just Submission.scores for both assignments and (classic) quizzes?

Hi, I just did a quick table search to see if one could get from a given quiz (taken by somebody) to a given score. Turns out there is a 'quiz_submissions' table, which happens to have a score field in it (and a user). I suspect this may be helpful.

yep, I found scores in Submissions and sometimes Quiz Submissions (both); wasn't sure I needed the Quiz Submissions score too. Basically, is it redundant data, e.g., a Submissions score will always be the Quiz Submission score (if it is a quiz submission)?

OK, digging deeper 

In the vast majority, whenever there's a QS.score, the S.score was the same.

However, I do see there are some cases where S.score <> QS.score. 

Now why would that be...

That would probably be because:

1. quiz_submissions is not complete - it only contains the last submission (I assume) for a given user and quiz (only 1 per user).  Where an assignment is set up as "keep highest" rather than "keep most recent" the submission you are seeing may not match the assignment score.
2. quiz_submissions in CD2 has issues - we have a ticket open on it, but basically not all the data appears in the dataset, and some stuff randomly disappears without trace or any record flowing through in the delta updates.
