The Unizin Faculty Development subcommittee is thrilled to announce the launch of the Stepping Stones Community, a public Google Group. This community will serve as a hub for our HigherEd peers worldwide to connect, collaborate, and share resources related to the Stepping Stones learning analytics curriculum adoption and continuous improvement.
Focused on learning analytics available within individual Canvas course sites, materials were designed to accommodate a variety of higher education audiences, goals, modalities, workshop structures, and outcomes. Materials will need to be adapted and infused with unique institutional context, but this flexible framework includes prompts to expedite customization by facilitators. Furthermore, faculty developers with less direct learning analytics experience will be empowered with introductory learning analytics content to begin larger campus conversations.
Having successfully piloted the modular Stepping Stones curriculum at several Unizin institutions (and with over 200 downloads!), we are excited to see more individuals building on this momentum to expand both the materials and their reach—advancing effective, ethical, and equitable learning analytics practices in higher education.
Join the Movement!
Ready to enhance the learning analytics training available on your campus? Request access to join the Stepping Stones Google Group (edu email required or send a link to your faculty/staff profile on a university website in the request) and become part of a community dedicated to transforming teaching and learning through data-informed insights. We welcome all educators and learning analytics advocates to participate in this exciting endeavor.
Want to explore the materials first? Access to the curriculum is available via Canvas Commons USA (search for “Stepping Stones” through your institution’s Canvas Commons access portal) or direct download of the cartridge files from our website. Check out our Unizin Summit presentation (45:39) to learn more about the materials, version 2 enhancements (released April 2024), and suggestions for implementation from our pilot schools.
