Hello, currently I am a university student. I am developing an app that will alert students about when they turn assignments in and such. The problem is when I try to access that data it gives me a forbidden message. How would a university student go about getting an admin key for developing software?
Thanks!
Hi @BlakeFullerton,
You'll likely need to speak with the people who manage Canvas at your school/institution (usually in the eLearning / IT / Digital Education areas). Instead of requesting an admin token, which honestly you'll probably run into many roadblocks or a flat out "no" answer to for data security and privacy reasons, you may want to look into the LTI 1.3 standard for LMS integration with an oAuth2 flow for API call access at an individual user level. Even that approach will usually require some kind of approval for most schools/institutions at some point now though.
Good luck with your app idea, and I hope you find this info useful!

Thanks Chris, good idea will do!
