Discussion problems - search feature

When I use the search feature on the board - the posts I see have NONE of the numbering tools still in place.  Which makes it impossible to read. 

I also think I cannot use the split screen after I use the search feature.  I tried a couple of times and nothing happens.

Also - I cannot see my responses, after I have done a search.
