When using Enhanced Rubrics that include Canvas Outcomes, the Speedgrader rubric view does not display the full Outcome name as it does for names of other rubric criteria. This makes it difficult to grade with because there is not enough included in the title for faculty to recall what Outcome is being assessed without going back to the full rubric. Expanding the Speedgrader panel does not change this, nor does changing the rubric display (Traditional, Horizontal, Vertical).
Canvas Outcomes that include descriptions include this text as a clickable option within the Speedgrader rubric, but there is no way to fully display the Outcome name, even when the text is relatively short.
For example, we have an Outcome named "COMP4: Engage in practice-informed research and research-informed practice" to align with CSWE Social Work accreditation competencies, but only "COMP4: Engage in..." displays in Speedgrader (see screenshot). The rubric view in Speedgrader should allow for the full character limit allowed in Canvas Outcomes naming.
Hi Melisa -
Really appreciate you flagging this. It’s super helpful to hear how these UI quirks impact real grading workflows. You make a great point about Outcome names getting cut off, and that’s definitely something we’ll keep in mind as we continue improving the rubric experience in Speedgrader. Thanks again for jumping in and being part of the conversation!
