How can I connect my H5P to the Canvas free teacher account, as the admin icon is not available on Canvas?

Hi @HeatherClowdus ...

The FFT (Free For Teacher) version of Canvas does not have an "admin" area, so there are some things that are more limited in what you can and cannot do compared to a standard paid Canvas environment (which does have an "admin" area).  You can compare the differences between the two at:

Canvas Free-for-Teacher FAQ

On this page, you'll also find a linked PDF which contains a comparison table.

As far as H5P is concerned... I'm not sure that integrating at the course level inside of a FFT course is possible.  At the College where I work, we do have H5P, but it is installed at the "admin" level and not the "course" level.  The instructions for setting up the integration at the "admin" level are located at:

Setting up H5P.com in Canvas (LTI 1.3) – H5P

I'd defer to others here in the Community if they have been able to successfully use H5P at the "course" level, but this would assume that no initial setup at the "admin" level was necessary.

Sorry that I don't have better news for you, but I hope this helps in some way.

Hi there @HeatherClowdus ,

I just wanted to verify that the information @Chris_Hofer provided you with is correct.

In short, you are not able to connect your H5P to canvas free for teacher.

FFT only provides you with course level admin access, which includes only having the ability to use and install certain course-level LTIs and applications. Given that account-admin level access would be required to set this up, as Chris mentioned, and since the only people with administrative rights on FFT are Instructure employees, you unfortunately cannot set this up yourself.

I'm sorry that this isn't the news you were hoping for, but I hope this helps!

Best,
Noah
