So, have a new batch of students and one of the students used Canvas last year and his login id is a bunch of numbers and not his email address. I had this happen before and cannot remember if it was fixable or not. Does anyone have a clue on what to do?
Thanks

I found this happened to me when a student used "sign in with google" instead of making an account with their school issues gmail address and password.
To fix it, they need to go into their settings and change everywhere that number appears to their name. If I remember correctly, it was in 3 different categories. Make sure they format it exactly as you have the other names fromatted (i.e. Last, First).
Hopefully this works for you!
Hi @LoriGoldstein ,
To locate your join code for the class, please navigate to your course settings, then scroll down under the course details tab until you see the button that says Let students self-enroll by sharing with them a secret URL or code. Once enabled, click save and then refresh your page and the code will be displayed.
I will provide a visual here to help you out if necessary: https://ptsd.instructuremedia.com/embed/6caf3e5d-cf9d-4388-b955-d7a923b75502
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info. Everything seems to be back to normal.
I use Canvas Free for Teachers. This person originally because a student with the email shown, but that Login Information is not correct now. I cannot find a way for me as the Admin or her to change it. Can anyone help? I would like it to be the new, actual email address that she will be using, as she will be a Teacher in the course.
Hi @LoriGoldstein ,
Free for Teacher does not provide you with admin functionality, this is something only Instructure Employees have access to. That being said, the only person that can change her information would be her herself, or she could reach out to Instructure with a support ticket for more assistance.
However, something I recommend doing is providing her with a join code that a student would use, then upon her joining the course you went in and changed her role to teacher.
Hope this helps!

Can you tell me where to find the Join Code? I have seen it before, but now I cannot find it.

Thank you! I removed her and then she joined using the join code, and that seems to have worked. Thanks so much!
Thank you. We will try those solutions.
