error running course export

I am trying to import material into a class from my shell course and it is failing saying "error running course export". I have been using this all year and never had an issue but all of a sudden I do. I need it fixed now!!! But since I am using the free teacher version, Canvas people cannot help me.

If I understand your question correctly, you are trying to import content into a new course shell in your Free-For-Teachers (FFT) course.  Is this correct?  If this is correct, when you say you had exported course content, do you know how big the course export package file size was?  If the file size is over 500 MB in size, then that might be the issue.  According to Free-for-Teacher Account FAQ - Instructure Community (canvaslms.com) and the linked PDF file in that document, Canvas_Account_Comparisons (tr-learncanvas.s3.amazonaws.com), the FFT course shells only have a limit of 500 MB, and I don't believe that total can be increased.  So, if you can slim down the content prior to exporting ... so that you can import it into your FFT course, that should help.

I'm not sure I'm completely answering or understanding your question, so if I have totally missed the boat on this, my apologies.  Please let Community members know if we can be of further help to you...thanks!

Thank you for contacting Canvas Support. We're sorry to hear you've been experiencing issues with importing course content. Similar to what @Chris_Hofer said, yes we do  have a storage limit but it seems like you may need assistance with the export/import process. If this is all within the FFT account, technically you don't need to export anything first and can follow this guide:

However, if you are trying to copy content between Canvas instances please follow these two guides - first export and then import. Hopefully this helps!
