Good afternoon, Everyone:

Is anyone using group testing in Canvas?  If so, what procedures are you using for it?  We have been using group testing in our school of nursing for the past year, which has helped significantly in our remediation processes.  Since Canvas does not currently allow quizzes to be assigned to groups, we are now on our second work-around, and I would love to know if anyone has developed a better methodology.  

Also, for anyone using group testing, I would like to encourage you to vote and comment on the following idea in the Canvas Studio.  Hopefully, Canvas will add the functionality to assign a quiz to groups if enough users respond.  https://community.canvaslms.com/ideas/4409-group-quizzes

schreiners, I really enjoyed reading the details of your institution's group testing scenario in Group Quizzes. Our needs at Wharton have primarily been either:

• Instructors seeking specific Quiz features (time limits, question types, Moderate) for group work; or
• A Survey intended to be filled out by each group in a course group set.

I have a suggestion for streamlining your scenario which is inspired by workarounds we've used in the past for those needs. Try randomly assigning a student leader to a group and then making a single copy of the exam available to those leaders only. (Also assign it to "Everyone Else" with availability dates sometime in the past, so those students can't take it.) While this won't make the score entry much easier, it might be worth a try to see whether it reduces the overall setup time.

That's a really good suggestion, and one we have not tried yet.  It might definitely be easier than our current process.  It's just too easy to accidentally enter a student twice or not at all as we are currently doing it.

Rob, we have implemented your suggestion for 2 exams now, and it has been extremely helpful in streamlining our process.  MUCH easier than having 9 separate tests to assign to individual students.  I'm still hoping and waiting for Canvas to add group testing functionality, but your suggestion was very beneficial.  Thank you!
