Allow the ability to restrict student file uploads in Canvas discussions

Currently you can stop students from attaching files to discussion posts, but the ability for them to upload files still exists in the RCE. It would be nice if we had the ability to turn off this permission in discussions. Some instructors do not want student files uploaded into discussion replies as it can be an accessibility concern.

Agreed, as well as the potential to be disruptive in other ways.

Yes, I completely agree! Aside from accessibility concerns, students frequently upload file types that other students can't open, making discussion quite difficult.

As part of the new Ideas & Themes process, all ideas in Idea Conversations were reviewed by the Product Team. Any Idea that was associated with an identified theme was moved to the new Idea & Themes space. Any Idea that was not part of the move is being marked as Archived. This will preserve the history of the conversations while also letting Community members know that Instructure will not explore the request at this time.
