Clarification of adding availability to an assignment

We would like to request clarification of the process involved when an instructor adds a different window of availability to assignment settings  What we often find is that instructors remove the initial 'Everyone' condition rather than adding a different window of availability for a particular student. When that happens the grades/submission 'disappear' and the instructor panics.

The workaround is to add back the initial 'everyone' assignment, but as you can imagine feeling that all the students work and grades are gone causes unnecessary stress.

What we'd like to see:

1. Clear indication/warning that removing the 'everyone' condition will mean that grades and submissions will not be shown in the gradebook.

2. If the instructor ignores the warning and removes the 'everyone' we would like an indication of what to do to get that information back.

Thank you.

Hi,  @young2538 , this sounds like a great idea. The interface and UX you've described applies not just to quizzes, but to any graded assignment, regardless of type. So that we can move this idea forward for voting, would you please edit the idea so that it covers "assignment settings" rather than strictly focusing on quizzes?

Thanks.

Just saw this. I have edited the idea to say assignment settings instead of quiz.
